A
revolution in simplicity! Our modular solution to cockpit wiring just
got even better.
The EMDA
PRO-Series is designed to fit into small spaces, and the cramped quarters
behind actual airliner cockpit panels.
These breakout
cards are just 6.0 x 10.6 cm (2 3/8 x 4 3/16 inches), and yet they offer
almost all of the functionality of a full-size EMDA V2 card! We are
extremely proud of the features we have been able to provide in this
tiny package.
The
PRO-40, $19.00 each, provides
up to 16 easy connections for switches, including the diodes required
for their operation with the EPIC system. To save space, the diodes
can be mounted vertically instead of horizontally as you would find
on a full-sized EMDA card.
And although
both of these smaller circuit boards are designed for professionals
(or at least people who have had experience with the EPIC system), we
haven't scrimped on the clear, functional labeling our EMDA series has
become famous for. These cards offer the same kinds of easy-to-understand
written cues for cockpit builders as the full-size EMDA V2. If you've
used an EMDA card in your cockpit before, you will feel right at home.
The
PRO-34, $19.00
each, provides connections for all 32 outputs available from the EPIC
Output Module. You can wire up 32 lamps, LEDs, buzzers or what-have-you
right from this tiny 6.0 x 10.6 cm (2 3/8 x 4 3/16 inch) card. To help
save space, we have designed the card so that resistors (if you need
any), are mounted vertically.
ADDED
FEATURES
Because
modularity is the key to a versatile cockpit project, we have taken
your requests to heart, and have added daisy-chaining plugs on every
EMDA wiring interface card -- including the tiny PRO-Series!
Now, you
can use short lengths of ribbon cable with inexpensive and readily available
connectors on each end, to daisy-chain several EMDA wiring cards together.
Of course,
we believe in full backward-compatability as well. This means that cockpits
using one very long ribbon cable with multiple "taps" along
the line will still operate perfectly with these new cards.
Need more
connections than are available on one PRO-Series card? Just add some
standoffs and stack them up! Vertical space is always easier to find
than horizontal space in a cockpit, it seems!
Benefits
of daisy-chaining:
- No need
to use one long stretch of ribbon cable running through your entire
cockpit.
- Easy
expansion when you add more EMDA wiring cards.
Drawbacks
to daisy-chaining:
- Unplugging
one of your daisy-chain cables will cut the connections to any other
EMDA cards down the line. The rest of your cockpit would not operate
while the chain is broken. This is not a problem if you use the one-long-ribbon
style of connection, with multiple "taps" along that same
ribbon cable.
The EMDA
Wiring Interface works in conjunction with the EPIC
card, manufactured by R&R Electronics. Get more info on the EPIC
system at the R&R Electronics web site.
