Spring Haiku
Poplar buds swelling,
red-headed woodpecker
searches for insects
*
Muffled by the mist
sound of a robin calling
his mate in the woods.
*
Affiliated
with puddles, a small boy drowns
new red rubber boots.

new red rubber boots.
*
The old poplar snows
thousands of tasselled seeds
on the pansy patch.
*
Tulips, scarlet splash
against spring greening lawn.
A crow saunters by.
*
Purple violets
for sale on the vendor's stand
wilting in the sun.
*
Rain in night London -
inverted tulips, black
umbrellas ballet.
*
The rising moon -
a water-logged boat near shore
Frogs resting on it.
*
Yellow morning sun
chases mist away swiftly -
sky turquoise blue.
