  More Haiku

Lonely - dialing
her own number, she receives
a busy signal.

  *

Winter-black hall stairs,
shadows gather thick and close
Mother brings a light.

  *

The puppy's tongue
sandpapers the small child's hands -
delighted giggles.

  *

A restless north wind
or a phantom child rocking
playground swings at night?

  *

Carousel snow bound
paint-peeling horses keep on
galloping.

  *

Bent old grandfather
rises with the congregation
sings "Jesus loves me."

  *

To destroy the moon
he skips flat stones
at its reflection.

  *

The long summer day
Crater Lake blue and unruffled
by reflected contrails.

  *

In the morning sun
purple thistles, a goldfinch
teetering on one.

  *

Birds are flying south.
Uncertainly, the roses
return to blooming.
