Veratrum viride

Upright plant with large oval leaves with showy veins / ridges running from base to tip. Foliage begins looking tired by the time the plant blooms. Flowers are greenish-yellow on several tall spikes.

Western Canadian native plant, native to moist forests and wet places in the southern Rocky Mountains. We have this growing in the shade in a site protected from the wind as the leaves are very susceptible to wind damage.

Hardy zone 3.

Height of flower spikes to 150 cm, spread of 40 cm.
