Woodland plant with spotted flowers typical of Tricyrtis. The flowers of this species aren't as showy as some Toad Lilies, your eye doesn't pick up the light yellow flowers against the light green foliage. But because of its early bloom time, this species is a good one for a short growing season as we have here in zone 3.
These pictures were taken on July 15th. Other Toad Lilies we've tried began to flower in September and were hit by frosts before they got going. Also, not much luck overwintering some of the other more tender species.
Grew this from seed in 1999, bloomed in 2000.
Hardy zone 4.
Height of about 25 cm, eventually spreads to a patch of 60 cm.
Glen's score: 7.
