Stachys coccinea

   

Tried this perennial in 1998 and again in 2000. Bloomed in late July, August. Pretty coral-coloured (orange/pink) blooms.  Bloomed very well its first year from seed.  Leaves have an attractive serrated edge to them.

We grew them in full sun.

Not very hardy.  Optimistically, perhaps hardy to Zone 5, native to U.S Southwest. Haven't been able to overwinter, but am happy to grow them as annuals because they're such great plants.

Grows 12" tall, spread of 12".
