Sphaeralcea incana

Tall flower stems appear from bushy plants, soft orange flowers. Foliage is greyish-green.

Grew 4' - 5' tall for us.

Grew this from seed, blooms from spring in its first year, blooms mid summer.

Flowers are small (size of a dime), and they don't appear in large numbers. The flowers are a nice colour, though. Our experience has been that unless you situate them in full sun, these plants are very floppy - many stems require staking.

Spreads by underground shoots. We have it contained in a 3 gallon pot sunk into the ground.

Hardy zone 4.

Glen's score:  6.
