Rumex sanguineus ssp. sanguineus

Foliage is the attraction to this plant.  Leaves are light green with strong maroon-coloured veining. We're growing these plants in full sun and partial shade.

Blooms are described as "panicles of tiny, star-shaped flowers, green then red-brown", not terribly showy.

We don't have many problems with aphids in our garden, but these plants were aphid magnets.

Hardy to zone 4, easy from seed.

The rosette of leaves grows to about 15 inches, flower stalks an additional 12 inches. Spread of about 12 inches.

Glen's score:  7.
