Primula denticulata 'Rubin Selection'

Pinkish-red flowers in spring (late April here in zone 3). With no other plants up yet in the vicinity of these plants, the flower umbels only extend a couple of inches beyond the rosette of leaves. In a more crowded location, I have read the flower umbels rise to 30 cm.

Grew several of these from seed, bloomed the next year. Seed purchased from Jelitto. The plants in the above photo are beginning their 3rd or 4th year year in our garden.

One problem with P. denticulata, they are so early blooming that late spring frosts will kill the blooms on the plants, especially in low, frost prone spots in the garden.

Guessing hardy to zone 3.

Height to 30 cm.

Glen's score: 7.
