Primula auricula

This is a great plant. Easy to grow, and very showy.

For several years we grew them only in the shade. A friend grows lots of them mostly sunny locations in his rock garden, and we're doing that, too. Blooms in mid-May for us in zone 3.  Bloom colours in these unnamed varieties are wine-red with yellow, or purple with yellow.

Grows 8" tall, forms a clump which can be divided to give new plants.

Hardy zone 2.

Glen's score:  9.
