Papaver alpinum

A short poppy with colourful flowers in white, yellow, orange, and pink, quite colourful. Flower petals are often fringed, as in the top photo above. Foliage is deeply divided, fern-like in appearance.

If deadheaded regularly, these plants bloom for a very long time. Each flower only lasts a few days, but there are many flowers per plant over late spring to mid summer. We have them growing in full sun in our rock garden.

Height of 8", spread of 9".

Hardy zone 3.

Glen's score:  7.
