Monarda didyma 'Marshall's Delight'

Quite showy pink blooms in mid summer.  Like all Monardas and most plants in the Mint family, characteristic square stems and very aromatic foliage.

We grow them in a couple of spots in our garden, one patch in partial shade, and one patch in a sunny spot.

Very invasive.  We use our standard approach of planting them in pots sunk into the ground. The pots have their bottoms cut out to provide drainage.  We plant them in a triangular cluster of 3 plants (i.e. 3 pots sunk into the ground in a triangular pattern).

Our experience with Monardas is they suffer terribly from powdery mildew. 'Marshall's Delight' is a variety which has been bred to be highly resistant to powdery mildew, and we've never had powdery mildew on this variety. We have replaced our other Monarda plants with 'Marshall's Delight'.

Hardy zone 3.

Height is 36 inches, will spread all over if you let it.

Glen's score:  7.
