Native to shorelines of the North Pacific. Fleshy leaves, noticeably blue in hue, prostrate growth habit. As with other Mertensia species with which I'm familiar, flowers open pink then turn sky blue.
We have it growing in a 3 gallon pot full of pure sand to mimic its native habitat. Regulary pour water on top of it, to simulate it's maritime habitat to some degree.
Grows 8 cm tall, spread so far of 15 cm.
Hardy to zone 5.
Glen's score: 7.
