Probably my most disappointing new perennial in 1999. Colour of the blooms was about what I expected - bluish-purple, which was good - but this is just about the floppiest perennial I've ever grown.
You don't see this in the photos above, but the stems which grew sideways were as long or longer then the stems that grew vertically. This made for a very wide plant, whose stems were so heavy they drooped to the ground. Much prefer its cousin Malva sylvestris 'Zebrina', a more erect growing, smarter-looking plant.
Grows 3 feet tall, and is bushy and 3 feet wide.
Grew them in pretty much full sun.
Hardy to Zone 5.
Glen's score: 5 of 10.
