Lonicera x 'Dropmore Scarlet'

This perennial vine puts on a good show in late June and early July.  Tubular orange flowers, 2 inches long cover this plant.

Grows ??? tall.  The above plant is 6 feet tall, and I cut off new shoots during summer which grow another 2 feet into the air (so a total of at least 8 feet in height).

We have several of these plants.  Grows well in sun, and grows and flowers in partial shade.

The major downside of this vine in our experience is that it is an aphid magnet.  All of the other perennials, shrubs, and trees in our yard aren't bothered much by aphids, just Lonicera x 'Dropmore Scarlet'.  We have to conduct major spraying operations on each of these plants at least once, and usually a couple of times each summer.

Don't cut the old woody stems off each fall/winter unless you want to control the plant's size. The plant's old wood will survive the winter and from it will come new growth in spring.

Hardy to Zone 3.

Glen's score:  6.
