Hosta 'Sum and Substance'

Large leaves and chartreuse colour of 'Sum and Substance'

In bloom in early August

Great foliage plant for a shade garden - eye-catching chartreuse colour, and huge leaves. Mauve flower spikes appear mid summer.

In general, we've found Hosta do best in humusy soil, in shady locations, and not too dry soil.

These plants are easy to grow, and well behaved. Some folks report their Hosta suffer badly from slug problems, we haven't had slug problems with our Hosta perhaps we've luckily chosen slug-resistant varieties.

Hardy zone 3.

Height about 2.5 feet tall, spread of 4 feet wide.

Glen's score:  8.
