Campanula portenschlagiana

Good rock garden plant with a groundcover type of growth habit. Bluish-purple blooms appear in mid summer. Leaves are fairly small, dark green, and heart shaped.

Quite the botanical name - perhaps worth including in your garden for its name alone!

Grew this from seed - relatively easy to do. Has proven reliably hardy here over several winters. We grow it in our rock garden in full sun, in the past has bloomed in partial shade for us, too.

Hardy zone 4.

Grows up to 6 inches tall, spread of 12 inches.

Glen's score:  7.
