Woodland plant, spring ephemeral - flowers in spring then disappears. Reddish-brown flowers open with petals flat on the leaves (sessile). Our plants grow to 20 cm tall. We grow them in shade in rich, humusy soil.

Rated hardy zone 5, hardier than that I think. Have survived several winters in a protected spot in our garden.
