Looking straight down on plant

Low shrub, leaves elliptical, alternate, entire, having very short petioles; leaves highlighted in photos above were 3 cm long by 1 cm wide. Flowers are bell-shaped and greenish-white in colour, in clusters at stem tips; flower measured at 7 mm long by 5 mm wide. Known of course for its dark blue, edible berries. Habitat is coniferous forest.

Flowers early to mid June.

Height listed in Budd's Flora to 40 cm, we measured plants to 30 cm tall.
