15 cm ruler for scale

Upright, branching growth habit. Bright yellow flowers in a dense raceme, flowers 1.5 cm diameter, 2 cm high. Stem leaves opposite, obovate, sessile. Other leaves with petioles comprised of 3 leaflets, oblanceolate to obovate. Leaves with petioles 3.5 cm wide, 4 cm long including petiole.

These plants are often found in large patches, together they present a blaze of yellow on the prairie. One of the most common wildflowers in southern Saskatchewan. Found in grassland, hillsides and patchy woodland.

Height of plant in photograph was 21 cm tall.

Took the above photos May 5th and May 13th in the Qu'Appelle valley about 30 km north of Regina, SK.
