Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Ranunculus longirostris photo

Growing in mud in a dried up stream bed

Aquatic plant usually found in small pools with foliage submerged and flower stems floating on the surface or rising a short distance above the water. Flowers white with yellow centres, 1 per pedicle, we measured flowers at 9 mm diameter. Leaves dissected to filiform segments, leaf segments measured to 13 mm long.

Listed as common by the Checklist of Vascular Plants of Saskatchewan, however I've only seen them on 3 occasions.

Photos taken on June 26th in a slough south of Avonlea, 80 km south or Regina, and June 30th, small pools in dried up stream bed, Gap Road, Cypress Hills, 450 km south west of our home in Regina, SK.
