Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Ranunculus longirostris photo

Growing in mud in a dried up stream bed

Aquatic plant usually found in small pools with foliage submerged and flower stems floating on the surface or rising a short distance above the water. Flowers white with yellow centres, 1 per pedicle, we measured flowers at 9 mm diameter. Leaves dissected to filliform segments, leaf segments measured to 13 mm long.

Listed as common by the Checklist of Vascular Plants of Saskatchewan, however I've only seen them on 2 occasions.

Photos taken on June 30th, small pools in dried up stream bed, Gap Road, Cypress Hills, 450 km south west of our home in Regina, SK.
