Leaves scale-like

Saprophytic plant bearing a single flower per stem. Flowers nodding when new, then straighten to vertical when spent. Flowers measured at 2 cm long. Stem leaves scale-like.

Stems and flowers turn black when spent.

Habitat is damp woods.

Height listed in Budd's Flora to 30 cm, we measured plants to 15 cm tall.

Photos taken July 28th, moist mixed woods, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, 300 km north east of our home in Regina, SK.
