Monarda fistulosa - photos and description

Saskatchewan's Wildflowers



Erect, single-stemmed plants with strong, pleasent smelling foliage. Large, globose, terminal flower cluster, pink to rose in colour, 6 cm diameter. Leaves with short petioles, ovate-lanceolate, opposite, serrate, top and bottom with hairs. Stems pubescent.

Habitat is open woods and hillsides. Common.

Took these photos June 30th, hilltop overlooking the Qu'Appelle valley about 30 km north of our home in Regina, SK.
