Lomatogonium rotatum - photos and description

Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Slender annual with white flowers having greyish-blue stripes, about 1.5 cm in diameter, usually 5 petals (we've seen a couple of flowers with 4 petals). Flowers in late summer. Leaves are opposite, linear lanceolate, 3 cm long and 3 mm wide. Tallest plant we measured was 40 cm tall.

Rare, listed as an S2 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

Habitat is listed in the guides as marshes and saline flats.

We took the above photos Sept 4th, in a grassy riparian area 40 metres north of a marsh at the Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area, about 150 km north of our home in Regina, SK.
