Linnea borealis - photos and description

Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Creeping plant with opposite leaves. Leaves oval to orbicular, typically 17 mm long with petiole. Larger leaves with a few teeth. Flowers pink, funnelform, pendant, growing in twos from stem tops. Flowers 1 cm long. Plant stems reddish coloured. Stems hairy, petioles hairy, lower leaf margins hairy. Top of leaf with very short hairs.

Very common in woodlands throughout Saskatchewan.

Flowering stems to 10 cm tall.

Took the above photos June 26th in forest south of La Ronge, about 600 km north of our home in Regina, SK
