Some dew on the leaves


Pale yellow flowers, irregular shape consisting of a sac and curved spur, growing from the leaf axils. Flower length to 2.5 cm, lower lip 1.5 cm wide. Flowers beginning end of July, more common to see them in flower in August. Leaves ovate, alternate, irregularly toothed. Leaves to 7.5 cm long, 4 cm wide.

Its weak stems result in a somewhat floppy growth habit. Is an annual.

Similar species, Impatiens capensis has spotted, yellow-orange flowers.

Habitat is wetlands, and marshy areas in thickets. Listed as uncommon, S3S4 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

Listed in the reference books as height to 1 meter, height of above plant was 75 cm.

The above photos were taken July 30th in a fen the Qu'Appelle Valley, about 125 km E of our home in Regina, SK.
