Growth habit is a few to many stems from the crown. Stems densely white woolly. Flowers discoid, terminal, flower head measured at 12 mm diameter. Some plants with red striping on stems. Leaves tufted at base of plant and alternate on the stem. Leaves pinnate, twice divided into filiform segments. Leaf highlighted in photo above was measured at 10.5 cm long (including petiole) and 3 cm wide.
Habitat is dry prairie hill tops and badlands on the southern prairie.
Uncommon, listed as an S3 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.
Height listed in Budd's Flora to 30 cm, we measured plants to 36 cm tall.
Photos taken June 26th on a steep roadside, about 100 km southwest of our home in Regina, Saskatchewan.
