15 cm ruler for scale

 

Many branched, tufted growth habit, leaves opposite or whorled, linear-oblong to 11 mm long and 3 mm wide. Flowers are tubular, pinkish-white in colour, and appear in terminal clusters on the stems. We measured flowers to be 7 mm long and 6 mm wide. Stems are square, reddish coloured. Stems sparsely hairy. A few hairs on leaf undersides and leaf margins are hairy.

Native to sandy soil in Saskatchewan's parkland and boreal forest.

Height is listed in the guides up to 25 cm, plant in above photo were 8 cm in height.

Took the above photos were taken June 5th, grassland, near Preeceville, about 300 km NE of our home of Regina.
