Cauline leaves sessile, cleft into linear divisions

Erect plant with stout stems, basal leaves stalked, orbicular with cordate bases, either crenate or lobed, basal leaf measured at 5.5 cm long (including petiole) and 27 mm wide. Flowers rather large, with petals overlapping, flowers measured to 15 mm diameter. Stems and stem leaves villose. Upper stem leaves sessile, cleft into linear lobes.

Habitat is forest moist meadows and stream banks.

This plant is rare, listed as an S1S2 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

Height is listed in Budd's Flora to 50 cm, we measured plants to 16 cm tall.

These photos were taken May 19th, brook side, centre block of the Cypress Hills, about 450 km south west of our home in Regina, SK
