




Earliest wildflower to bloom in spring where we live. Plant from a thick taproot. Leaves all basal, much divided, typical leaf measured at 10 cm long including petiole, and 7 cm wide. Leaves and scapes densely pubescent. Scapes to 15 cm tall. Flowers mauve to white, to 5.5 cm diameter.
Flowers usually appear before leaves.
Common to prairie and hills in southern Saskatchewan.
The provincial flower of Manitoba.
