Bulblet in leaf axil 

Slender, erect plant with small reddish-purple bublets in leaf axils and along upper stem. 1 to 3 flowers at stem tips, white, 4 or 5 petals, each petal with 3 lobes, flower measured to 13 mm wide.  Stems red-coloured, pubescent. Basal leaves stalked, palmately divided into 5 segments, basal leaf measured at 25 mm diameter. Stem leaves 1 to 3 per stem, have short stalks, alternate, divided into 3 segments. Leaves hairy on bottom and margins.

Habitat is slopes in the Cypress Hills

Budd's Flora lists the height 10 - 20 cm, we measured plants to 22 cm tall.

Very rare, this plant is listed as an S1 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

Photos taken May 23rd and May 31st, hill bottom on edge of brook in grassland, Cypress Hills, about 450 km southwest of our home in Regina, SK.
