Saskatchewan's Wildflowers



A climbing plant with purple blue flowers in dense racemes. Racemes to 5 cm long, flowers to 1.5 cm long. Leaves pinnate to 11 leaflets, leaflets oblong-ovate, we measured a leaflet to 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. Stems square, pubescent. Leaves pubescent top and bottom with very short hairs.

Habitat is woodlands, open areas among woods, and ditches in the Parklands and Boreal forest. Common.

Height listed in Budd's Flora to 100 cm long, we measured plants to a height of 93 cm.

Photos taken July 1st, among bushes on forest's edge, boreal forest, 400 km north east of our home in Regina, SK.
