Eye-catching, large flowers add a splash of yellow and red to the prairie beginning in mid June. These are very showy plants when in bloom.

Large flower heads to 6 cm diameter, having distinctive red disk florets, cone shaped centre of flower, and yellow ray florets.
Listed in the guides as varying in height from 20 to 60 cm tall. Tallest plants in above photos were 45 cm high.
Common on dry prairie.
The above photos were taken on June 19th, prairie, Buffalo Grass Eco Reserve, 200 km southeast of our home in Regina, SK
