Erect plant with stiff stems. Foliage is covered with stiff short hairs, making it rough to touch. Flowers bright yellow in globose raceme, flowers measured to 18 mm diameter. Basal leaves linear with long petioles, a few teeth, the one highlighted in photo above was 5.5 cm long (including petiole) and 6 mm wide. Stem leaves reduced upwards, linear, sessile, also with a few teeth, the one highlighted in photo above was 3 cm long and 4 mm wide.

Common on light and sandy prairie.

Budd's Flora lists the height from 20-60 cm. We measured plants to 33 cm tall.

Listed in most of the field guides under its old name Erysimum asperum.

Above photos were taken June 1st in a sandy pasture near Mortlach, about 100 km west of our home in Regina, SK.
