Campanula aparinoides - photos and description

Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Weak stemmed perennial (very floppy), slender growth habit, white bell-shaped flowers in July. Flowers are 15 mm in diameter. Leaves are linear, 3 cm long, 2 to 3 mm wide, with a few, irregular teeth.

Stiff hairs on the stems and bottom of leaves make them very rough to touch, allow the plant to adhere to nearby plants.

Habitat is marshes in the boreal forest and parkland.

Uncommon, listed as an S2S3 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

Height is listed to 50 cm, above plant was 35 cm tall.

The above photos were taken August 5th in a grassy swamp, north of Hudson Bay, near Pasqua River, about 450 km N of our home in Regina, SK.
