Astragalus purshii - photos and description

Cushion growth habit, densely pubescent foliage, scapose, yellowish-white flowers with purple keels. Flowers single, or in pairs. Flowers measured to 2.5 cm long. Leaves pinnate, we counted up to 13 leaflets. The leaflets oblanceloate to ovate, measured to 1 cm long and 6 mm wide. Fruit white woolly.

Entire plant was 11 cm wide, leaves to 11 cm height.

Habitat is dry prairie hills.

Rare, listed as S2 by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.

The above photos were taken May 20th, dry prairie hillside, south of the Cypress Hills, about 450 km southwest of our home in Regina, SK.
