"Flowering heads densely tangled with an arachnoid tomentum" - from Plants of Riding Mountain National Park

Very large branching biennial. with rhubarb-like leaves. Flowers mid summer. Height of above plant was 125 cm tall. Leaves are cordate, 40 cm long, 30 cm wide. Flowers are purple-red, 2.5 cm diameter, corymbose arrangement, appear as globes covered in a cottony web.

Habitat is disturbed soil, Boreal forest.

Introduced, a non-native. Dr. Vern Harms in the Checklist of the Vascular Plants of Saskatchewan lists the plant as uncommon.
