Anemone cylindrica - photos and description

Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Erect growth habit with leaves divided into many lobes. Lobes not as narrow as a similar species Anemone multifida whose leaf lobes are only 2-3 mm in width. Usually several flowering stems, each bearing a single white flower about 2 cm in diameter. Distinguishing feature is the long, cylindrical seed heads.

Found on prairie hillsides, and in moist meadows.

Height of flower stalk to 60 cm.

Took the above photos first week of July at Hidden Valley, on the edge of the Qu'Appelle River Valley, about 40 km north of our home in Regina, SK, and the Buffalo Grass Eco Reserve, about 200 km SE of our home in Regina, SK
