Basal leaves in above photo

Erect plant with several deeply lobed basal leaves on long petioles, usually having 5 lobes, basal leaf measured to 12.5 cm in diameter. Stem leaves sessile, located in a whorl underneath the flower, deeply lobed, stem leaf measured at 10.5 cm diameter. Flowers white, apetalous, measured to 4.5 cm diameter. Stems and leaves downy hairy.

Very common to moist grasslands and wood thickets.

Height listed in Budd's Flora to 30 cm.

Took the above photos June 9th, edge of wooded ravine, slopes of the Qu' Appelle River, about 40 km north of our home in Regina, SK.
