Saskatchewan's Wildflowers

Prairie onion commonly found on dry grassland in our prairie and parkland habitat. Plants grow from bulbs, having several grass-like leaves, and umbels of small white flowers, flower petals with a red stripe down the middle. Flower umbels typically to 2cm diameter. Individual flowers 5 mm diameter.

Height listed in Budd's Flora from 8 to 25 cm.

Took the above photos May 13th on prairie of the Buffalo Grass Eco Reserve, 200 kn southeast of Regina, SK, and, May 13th, dry hillsides of the Qu' Appelle Valley, 30 km north of our home in Regina, SK.
