Elymus magellanicus

Intense blue colouring, and as such is highly ornamental. The bluest grass I've seen.

A clumping species of grass, quite well behaved (non-invasive).

We grew this from seed in 2000, hopefully will overwinter. Seed purchased from The Conservancy in Edmonton, AB, who write in their catalogue that this grass has proven hardy for them. In any event, self-seeds for us giving us new plants if the parent clump does not overwinter.

Photos were taken at the end of September, when our garden is beginning to look tired, this grass however still looks pretty good.

Rated hardy to zone 5.

Height to 2 feet, spread 18".

Glen's score:  8.
