Bromus inermis 'Skinner's Golden'

The gold and green striped leaves of this grass brighten up our garden.

This is a vigorous grower, and quite hardy (zone 1). Grows 36" tall for us. Will form a large patch several feet wide if you let it.

We have it growing in partial shade and full sun.  In the photo on the left, it is growing up through a tomato cage to keep it upright (it can get floppy). Hugh Skinner (who developed the grass, recommends running over it with a lawn mower if it gets too tall / floppy).

Hardy to at least zone 2.

Glen's score:  8.
