"Canada's International Agricultural Marketplace"

Nov.23-30, 1997

BFS Media Group Inc

A FEW AGRIBITION FACTS

Each November Canadian Western Agribition opens its doors to the world, hosting the largest agricultural show and marketplace in Canada.

Approximately 150,000 people attend Agribition each year to compete, to buy, to sell, to learn, and to have fun! It all happens over seven days, in 19 acres of indoor, heated facilities, housing some of North America's best livestock and breeders.

Agribition is home to one of the world's most influential livestock shows and attracts top producers and decision makers from across North America. The Commercial Cattle Show is the world's largest indoor event of its kind. The Heavy Horse events draw capacity crowds to the hitches and pulls, Western Canada's best. Agribition is the place to see over 400 exhibitors displaying their newest developments in agricultural technology and services. The Grain and Forage Show offers an excellent opportunity to producers to present their products to prospective buyers and to educate the general audience about quality seed.

Some quick facts
about Agribition:

Farmers and producers are our largest audience: 39% are a mixed farmer; 12% livestock producers, and 12% are grain farmers. Over 340% of Agribition's '95 visitors have attended ten or more shows; there were 16% first-timers.
The majority of Agribition's audience is the rural public. The majority of Agribition's audience travel over 200 km within the province (39%) to visit the show. An additional 17% visited from across Canada and are presumed to have a rural background to travel that far to visit the Show. Internationally, 23 countries and 28 American states were represented at the International Business Centre by approximately 450 guests.
Agribition continues to attract visitors of all ages with the majority in the 40 to 49 years old (25%) followed closely by the 30-39 age group (24%).

In 1995 overall attendance at the Rodeo was the third highest in Agribition's history (24,225), with an additonal perfomance added on Sunday. This meant a record attendance at the Show for a Sunday as the matinee performance was sold out.

As Canada's International Agricultural Marketplace, livestock producers know that this is the event to use to showcase their product. Almost 60% of exhibitors are from Saskatchewan; Alberta is represented by 21%; and just over 10% attend from Manitoba. Livestock exhibitors also travel from Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec to show at Agribition. Producers from nine states make up almost 3% of the livestock exhibitors as well.

The reputation of Agribition's Trade Show attracts exhibitors from all over. Just under two-thirds are from Saskatchewan but an additional 11% represent companies from Manitoba, and 13% from Alberta. Ontario businesses made up 4%, and Quebec, British Columbia are also represented. Just under 3% includes exhibitors from the United States.
